padding: 0px;\"><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Este artigo analisa cavidades localizadas pr\u00f3ximas do n\u00edvel de aplana\u00e7\u00e3o Murteira \u2013 Carvalheiro, sito no Maci\u00e7o Calc\u00e1rio Estremenho Portugu\u00eas. Neste n\u00edvel de aplana\u00e7\u00e3o o n\u00famero de grutas de origem fre\u00e1tica \u00e9 consider\u00e1vel, testemunhando o papel deste corredor na paleocircula\u00e7\u00e3o. As cavidades analisadas s\u00e3o de dois tipos, <em>vadose shaft<\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">, como os algares do Silvino Cego e da Cruz Catarino I, e grutas de origem fre\u00e1tica, como os algares do Chocalho e do Chouso Frade. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Os <em>vadose shaft <\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">apresentam controlo estrutural por fraturas subverticais e as grutas de origem fre\u00e1tica apresentam controlo misto por fraturas e atitude das camadas. As galerias do algar do Chouso Frade representam um antigo n\u00edvel de circula\u00e7\u00e3o, tamb\u00e9m registado no pr\u00f3ximo algar do Gralhas VII, a cotas 260-270m, o algar do Chocalho representa um outro antigo n\u00edvel de circula\u00e7\u00e3o, mais baixo (pr\u00f3ximo da cota 245-248m), resultante do rebaixamento do primeiro. A maior parte do corredor situa-se no bordo Sul do Planalto de Sto. Ant\u00f3nio (Maci\u00e7o Calc\u00e1rio Estremenho), prolongando-se para Oeste para a zona Sul do polge da Mendiga e para Este para o Vale da Trave.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Desta feita os trabalhos arrancaram no extremo Oeste do Corredor junto \u00e0s localidades de P\u00e9 da Pedreira e Vale da Trave. As grutas alvo desta publica\u00e7\u00e3o s\u00e3o o algar do Silvino Cego, Algar do Chocalho, Algar da Figueira, ou das Sete Salas ou do Chouso Frade e o Algar da Cruz Catarino I.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-3bbed4d elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"3bbed4d\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"aux-parallax-section elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-b5d9094\" data-id=\"b5d9094\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-02f598d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"02f598d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"introducao\" style=\"letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; font-family: Questrial; font-size: 14px; text-align: justify; white-space: pre-line;\"><p><span style=\"caret-color: #e78b00; color: #e78b00; font-size: 20px;\">Enquadramento geomorfol\u00f3gico<\/span><\/p><div style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">O n\u00edvel de aplana\u00e7\u00e3o de Murteira-Carvalheiro segundo G. Manupella et al (2006) \u00e9 formada por eros\u00e3o, sendo composto por uma faixa aplanada com 1 a 2 Km de largura, que se estende desde Casais da Mureta, Carvalheiro, Corti\u00e7al e Vale da Trave at\u00e9 Murteira e P\u00e9 da Pedreira (ver Figura 1 e Figura 2) Este n\u00edvel de eros\u00e3o bisela os calc\u00e1rios do Jur\u00e1ssico M\u00e9dio e Superior \u00e0 altitude de refer\u00eancia de 250m, de acordo com G. Manupella et al (2006) ap\u00f3s Martins (1949)). Segundo Martins(1949) a superf\u00edcie de aplana\u00e7\u00e3o foi formada por eros\u00e3o fluvial (uma vez que nela o autor n\u00e3o encontrou qualquer dep\u00f3sito marinho). Thomas (1983) refere a exist\u00eancia de um paleon\u00edvel de base \u00e0 cota 200m, marcado \u00e0 superf\u00edcie por um n\u00edvel de aplana\u00e7\u00e3o com 2km de largura que se estenderia desde o Cov\u00e3o do Feto ao longo do flanco Sul do planalto de Sto. Ant\u00f3nio, a cotas entre 150 e 230m.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">De acordo com G. Manupella et al (2006), a cota desta plataforma encontra-se nos 200-220m no cabe\u00e7o do Cheirinho, e Casais da Mureta, a Oeste de Murteira e Barreirinhas (ver Figura 1)sobe para 260 a 290m em dire\u00e7\u00e3o a Valverde (n\u00edvel de Ch\u00e3 das Pipas, Martins (1949)). O n\u00edvel de aplana\u00e7\u00e3o sobe de Este para Oeste at\u00e9 atingir o fundo da depress\u00e3o da Mendiga (a cotas de 330m). Segundo G. Manupella et al (2006), ap\u00f3s Ferreira et al (1988), n\u00e3o existe descontinuidade evidente entre o n\u00edvel de Murteira-Carvalheiro e os n\u00edveis de fundo da depress\u00e3o da Mendiga. Segundo os autores anteriores, ap\u00f3s Martins (1949) e Ferreira (1988), a liga\u00e7\u00e3o entre o fundo da depress\u00e3o da Mendiga e a superf\u00edcie de aplana\u00e7\u00e3o de Murteira-Carvalheiro \u00e9 feita atrav\u00e9s de um estreito corredor aplanado, delimitado pelos relevos orientais da Serra da Lua e pela escarpa da falha da Mendiga. Segundo G. Manupella et al (2006), a superf\u00edcie de eros\u00e3o apresenta-se bastante inclinada para o interior do maci\u00e7o (Murteira) ou com o aspeto de caleira ampla (Vale da Trave, Carvalheiro), ver Figura 2. Os n\u00edveis estariam separados por um estreitamento da plataforma a Norte do Vale da Mata (onde se encontra a nascente do Olho da Mata) e por uns cabe\u00e7os cuja cota ronda os 250m, estando cerca de 10m mais altos que a superf\u00edcie a Este e Oeste.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Segundo G. Manupella et al (2006) o limite Sul da superf\u00edcie de aplana\u00e7\u00e3o de Murteira-Carvalheiro apresenta-se bordejado por uma linha de pequenas eleva\u00e7\u00f5es que limita o Maci\u00e7o e antecede a descida para o sinclinal de Monsanto. De acordo com G. Manupella et al (2006), Martins (1949) considerava a depress\u00e3o de Vale da Trave-Vale Florido como um polge incipiente. Embora dificilmente se possa atualmente considerar a zona Oeste da superf\u00edcie com uma depress\u00e3o, como Ferreira (1988) considera a depress\u00e3o de Vale da Trave \u2013 Cabe\u00e7o Florido parte da superf\u00edcie de aplana\u00e7\u00e3o de Murteira-Carvalheiro, n\u00e3o \u00e9 de excluir que a depress\u00e3o de Vale da Trave \u2013 Cabe\u00e7o Florido se prolongasse para a zona Oeste da superf\u00edcie, tendo sido limitada a Sul, por uma linha de eleva\u00e7\u00f5es, atualmente j\u00e1 muito erodida, ou que sempre teve pouca express\u00e3o morfol\u00f3gica. Assim, a superf\u00edcie de aplana\u00e7\u00e3o poderia corresponder a uma depress\u00e3o c\u00e1rsica, com contorno pouco marcada a Oeste, com uma extens\u00e3o de alguns quil\u00f3metros e que bordejava o limite SW do MCE.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">A Norte da plataforma encontra-se o Algar do Gralhas VII, com tr\u00eas galerias que marcam um paleon\u00edvel de circula\u00e7\u00e3o, que atualmente se encontra aos 270-280m. Estas forma\u00e7\u00f5es est\u00e3o datadas do Batoniano (andar do Jur\u00e1ssico m\u00e9dio); a litologia dominante, segundo Manuppella <em>et al <\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">(2006) s\u00e3o os calc\u00e1rios. A espessura da forma\u00e7\u00e3o de Calc\u00e1rios m\u00edcriticos da Serra de Aire, segundo Manuppella <em>et al <\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">(2000) chega, noutras zona do MCE, a ser da ordem dos 300-400m. A espessura da forma\u00e7\u00e3o de Calc\u00e1rios de P\u00e9 da Pedreira, segundo Manuppella <em>et al <\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">(1999) \u00e9 estimada em 40m. Estas forma\u00e7\u00f5es est\u00e3o inseridas na chamada forma\u00e7\u00e3o c\u00e1rsica do Jur\u00e1ssico M\u00e9dio definida por Crispim (1995).<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Em termos estruturais, os terrenos da zona em estudo apresentam regionalmente dire\u00e7\u00e3o E-W com suave inclina\u00e7\u00e3o para Sul, que localmente chega a ser impercet\u00edvel, considerando-se as camadas subhorizontais. Cada uma das unidades geomorfol\u00f3gicas possui um n\u00famero muito limitado de nascentes permanentes para onde escoa as suas \u00e1guas subterr\u00e2neas. De acordo com Costa Almeida <em>et al<\/em> <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">(2000), a nascente mais importante da unidade onde se situam as grutas alvo deste estudo (Planalto de Santo Ant\u00f3nio) \u00e9 a nascente permanente do Rio Alviela.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">De acordo com Costa Almeida <em>et al<\/em> <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">(2000) a \u00e1rea de alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o desta nascente dever\u00e1 ser constitu\u00edda pela quase totalidade do planalto, que apresenta declive geral para sul, o qual coincide igualmente com o pendor das camadas calc\u00e1rias. As numerosas falhas que s\u00e3o paralelas \u00e0 falha da Costa de Minde apresentam-se frequentemente injetadas por fil\u00f5es de rochas b\u00e1sicas que dever\u00e3o funcionar como barreiras hidr\u00e1ulicas, totais ou parciais, que tender\u00e3o a impedir o escoamento para sul e a desvi\u00e1-lo no sentido da nascente dos Olhos de \u00c1gua. Existe refer\u00eancia \u00e0 mesma em dois relat\u00f3rios da Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Sp\u00e9l\u00e9o-Arch\u00e9ologique de Caussade (SSAC, 2005).<\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Descri\u00e7\u00e3o da cavidade<br \/><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">A gruta tem sobretudo desenvolvimento vertical, com uma entrada de largura m\u00e9trica e acess\u00edvel. Ainda perto da superf\u00edcie, encontra-se um muro de pedra, resultado de um laborioso trabalho, que supomos tenha servido para armazenar as pedras situadas dentro da zona da entrada do algar. Passando o nicho onde se fraciona, entra-se num po\u00e7o (P43) de di\u00e2metro largo (cerca de 4-5m), direto e coberto de concre\u00e7\u00e3o. Veem-se os estratos subhorizontais e caneluras de dissolu\u00e7\u00e3o. Da base do mesmo parte uma passagem estreita, devido a um dep\u00f3sito de concre\u00e7\u00e3o. Passando-a emboca-se em dois ressaltos que atravessam salas menores. No fundo encontra-se uma camada espessa de argila, e ao lado, num po\u00e7o paralelo que se acede trepando e destrepando uma fenda, uma prateleira (j\u00e1 em parte abatida) de argila coberta com uma fina folha de calcite, marcando esta o n\u00edvel do colmata\u00e7\u00e3o anterior. Al\u00e9m disso, v\u00ea-se um belo osso concrecionado no meandro final. As \u00e1guas que se infiltram prosseguem por este fundo, existem outras pequenas janelas e fendas, mas todas demasiado estreitas e sem corrente de ar. A cavidade situa-se no interior da localidade de P\u00e9 da Pedreira, com um acesso relativamente f\u00e1cil, pelo que ser\u00e1 \u00a0certamente conhecida h\u00e1 muito tempo. A gruta apresenta sinais de visita\u00e7\u00e3o e encontra-se equipada para repartidores.<\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Descri\u00e7\u00e3o da cavidade<br \/><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">A cavidade tem uma entrada de largura m\u00e9trica, descendo-se \u00e0 primeira sala por uma s\u00e9rie de pequenos ressaltos com paredes e teto cobertos de c\u00fapulas, de g\u00e9nese fre\u00e1tica. A sala \u00e9 extensamente concrecionada e tem o fundo atapetado de blocos e algum lixo, sendo estruturalmente controlada por fraturas subverticais. A sala desenvolve-se para SE, percorrendo-se um caos de blocos ap\u00f3s o qual h\u00e1 uma cascalheira ascendente que termina numa pequena sala. Informam os locais que, em tempos, via-se luz ao fundo de uma chamin\u00e9 nesta zona. A quantidade de blocos da rampa, assim como as caneluras de dissolu\u00e7\u00e3o vis\u00edveis nesta zona, sugerem a exist\u00eancia de uma antiga entrada em po\u00e7o, atualmente colmatada\/concrecionada.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">A cavidade continua por um segundo tramo vertical, que atinge uma galeria f\u00f3ssil, correspondente \u00e0 zona mais baixa. A galeria aparece como uma s\u00e9rie de salas ligadas por passagens mais estreitas, seguindo uma dire\u00e7\u00e3o clara e constante para WSW. Esta \u00e9 razoavelmente concrecionada, estando colmatada em boa parte por um dep\u00f3sito de argila escura. Tanto as paredes como o teto est\u00e3o cobertas de cinzas, indica\u00e7\u00e3o que a galeria \u00a0esteve preenchida com \u00e1gua ap\u00f3s um inc\u00eandio. No topo das v\u00e1rias salas aparecem longas chamin\u00e9s associadas a fraturas subverticais, al\u00e9m de marmitas de teto. A progress\u00e3o faz-se superando pequenos degraus que se superam mais facilmente com entreajuda. Passando uma sala particularmente concrecionada e ultrapassando-se duas pequenas restri\u00e7\u00f5es atinge-se o t\u00e9rmino conhecido da cavidade.<\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Acesso<br \/><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">O algar abre-se num campo de dolinas, num carvalhal a poucos minutos da estrada.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\"><strong>Speleometry<br \/><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Desenvolvimento Total: 194m<br \/>Desenvolvimento Planim\u00e9trico: 167m<br \/>Desn\u00edvel: -34m<br \/><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\"><strong>Alguns apontamentos de geologia<br \/><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">O po\u00e7o de entrada \u00e9 controlado por fratura de atitude N40E\/Subvertical, com a galeria superior a ser controlado por fratura de atitude N60E\/Subvertical. O po\u00e7o de entrada, pode tratar-se de um pequeno <em>vadose shaft<\/em>, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">conforme defini\u00e7\u00e3o de Baro\u00f1 (2003), por\u00e9m j\u00e1 muito concrecionado e alterado, a poss\u00edvel segunda entrada, a julgar pelas caneluras de dissolu\u00e7\u00e3o deveria ser tamb\u00e9m um outro <em>vadose shaft<\/em>.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">O po\u00e7o que d\u00e1 acesso \u00e0 galeria inferior \u00e9 controlado por uma fratura de atitude N20E\/Subvertical. A galeria inferior n\u00e3o apresenta controlo estrutural evidente, admite-se controlo por atitude das camadas (medida nesta galeria como E-W\/10S), pois a dire\u00e7\u00e3o geral de desenvolvimento \u00e9 grosseiramente pr\u00f3xima de E-W, com alguns tro\u00e7os pouco desenvolvidos de dire\u00e7\u00e3o N-S. A galeria \u00e9 de origem fre\u00e1tica, como testemunhado pelas c\u00fapulas, aspeto arredondado das paredes e presen\u00e7a de vagas de eros\u00e3o. As vagas de eros\u00e3o apresentam um comprimento de cerca de 0.5m, sem sentido de circula\u00e7\u00e3o claro. A galeria inferior encontra-se parcialmente colmatada com concre\u00e7\u00f5es e argila, marcando um antigo n\u00edvel de circula\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00e1gua, que se encontra atualmente \u00e0 cota 245-248m. Como habitual a inexist\u00eancia de topografias publicadas, relat\u00f3rios, artigos ou outro tipo de publica\u00e7\u00e3o espeleol\u00f3gica torna dif\u00edcil reconstituir o hist\u00f3rico de explora\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Do que se conseguiu apurar, o registo mais antigo \u00e9 uma reportagem da RTP, de 1971 que acompanha uma atividade do CNJE \u2013(Centro Nacional Juvenil de Espeleologia) a uma cavidade com o mesmo nome. Apesar do exterior da gruta estar diferente atualmente, a presen\u00e7a de inscri\u00e7\u00f5es com \u201cRTP\u201d no interior da gruta, indicam tratar-se da mesma cavidade. Agradecemos a Fernando Pires a identifica\u00e7\u00e3o da sigla NAE:\u00a0 N\u00facleo de Espeleologia de Condeixa.<\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Descri\u00e7\u00e3o da cavidade<br \/><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">A entrada est\u00e1 numa depress\u00e3o, embocando numa pequena vertical de cerca 10m. Uma acumula\u00e7\u00e3o enorme de ossadas e lixo imediatamente \u00e9 vis\u00edvel logo abaixo da boca, formando uma rampa de mat\u00e9ria org\u00e2nica que desce em dire\u00e7\u00e3o a Este. Nesse sentido, a passagem \u00e9 larga e alongada verticalmente, tendo as paredes concrecionadas. Veem-se dep\u00f3sitos de areia, e mantos calc\u00edticos suspensos a marcar a sua antiga extens\u00e3o. Sobre a concre\u00e7\u00e3o, existem extensas col\u00f3nias de bact\u00e9rias verdes<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Daqui, a progress\u00e3o faz-se por uma s\u00e9rie de passagens mais estreitas e pequenas trepadas que ligam uma sucess\u00e3o de pequenas salas, bem concrecionadas e com algumas inscri\u00e7\u00f5es feitas a gas\u00f3metro nas paredes. A sala mais distal ainda apresenta espeleotemas relativamente limpos e um <em>gour <\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">bem conservado. O acesso faz-se por uma restri\u00e7\u00e3o mais dif\u00edcil que as anteriores. Da \u00faltima sala partem duas pequenas passagens descendentes com termina\u00e7\u00e3o em estreitamentos com preenchimento sedimentar<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Depois da vertical de entrada existe uma continua\u00e7\u00e3o para Oeste, que se inicia numa pequena rampa de blocos (e ossos) dando acesso a uma sala. O seu t\u00e9rmino \u00e9 uma galeria cujo teto estar\u00e1 muit\u00edssimo pr\u00f3ximo da superf\u00edcie, notando-se inclusive a presen\u00e7a de organismos raramente associados ao meio subterr\u00e2neo, como formigas e lesmas, al\u00e9m de abundantes ra\u00edzes pendentes. Esta zona da galeria parece assentar sobre um caos de blocos coberto de sedimento mais fino. Existe ainda uma passagem descendente que termina em estreiteza impratic\u00e1vel, carecendo de desobstru\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Acesso<br \/><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">O algar abre-se num campo de dolinas, num carvalhal a poucos minutos da estrada.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\"><strong>Speleometry<br \/><\/strong>Desenvolvimento Total: 144m<br \/>Desenvolvimento Planim\u00e9trico:119m<br \/>Desn\u00edvel: -28m<br \/><\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Equipagem<br \/><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">A ficha de equipagem pode ser encontrada na topografia.<br \/>1 AN aproxima\u00e7\u00e3o, 1 AN descida, protetor de corda, 1 S + 1 PB descida, 1 PB descida, 1 AN descida, 1 AN descida.<br \/>(AN-Amarra\u00e7\u00e3o Natural; S-Spit; PB-Parabolt)<br \/><\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Alguns apontamentos de geologia<br \/><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">A gruta apresenta controlo estrutural por fraturas de atitude N60-70E\/Subvertical, E-W\/Subvertical e N10E\/ Subvertical. As camadas apresentam atitude, medida na gruta, E-W\/10S. A gruta tem origem fre\u00e1tica como testemunhado pelo aspeto arredondado das paredes, presen\u00e7a de vagas de eros\u00e3o e perfil em zig-zag. As vagas de eros\u00e3o apresentam um comprimento de cerca de 0.5-0.6m, sem sentido de circula\u00e7\u00e3o bem definido. A galeria marca um antigo n\u00edvel de circula\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00e1gua, que se encontra atualmente \u00e0 cota 260-270m.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">O perfil original do algar do Chouso Frade, embora alterado por abatimentos, parece ser em <em>loop<\/em>, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">podendo ter tido originalmente um perfil descendente, em dire\u00e7\u00e3o ao vale pr\u00f3ximo ao Algar do Chocalho, mimetizando a atual superf\u00edcie topogr\u00e1fica (qui\u00e7\u00e1 n\u00e3o muito diferente da antiga).<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">O dep\u00f3sito de areias que se encontra pr\u00f3ximo da zona mais profunda da cavidade \u00e9 particularmente interessante. A sua origem poder\u00e1 estar relacionada com antiga circula\u00e7\u00e3o de \u00e1gua ou enchimento com areia externa \u00e0 cavidade (apesar da sua localiza\u00e7\u00e3o ainda distante da entrada n\u00e3o favorecer esta hip\u00f3tese). A sua hist\u00f3ria da explora\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 desconhecida<\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">Descri\u00e7\u00e3o da cavidade<br \/><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">A gruta \u00e9 composta por um \u00fanico po\u00e7o, com 19m de profundidade. que termina num caos de blocos completamente coberto por lixo, sobretudo embalagens pl\u00e1sticas e algum org\u00e2nico, dando um aspeto pouco salubre \u00e0 cavidade. A boca do algar tem 3-4m de extens\u00e3o e a aproxima\u00e7\u00e3o tem de se fazer com algum cuidado. O calc\u00e1rio das paredes encontra-se alterado para uma argila.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\"><strong>Acesso<br \/><\/strong>A cavidade situa-se a meia d\u00fazia de metros a Sul de um estrad\u00e3o que passa ao lado de uma das pedreiras existente nessa zona. A cavidade encontra-se num estado de desenvolvimento adiantado, com abatimento da parte superior da gruta, o que explica a entrada larga, caos de blocos na base e a altera\u00e7\u00e3o das paredes. Os <em>vadose shaft <\/em><\/span><i><\/i><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">apresentam controlo estrutural por fraturas subverticais, com o Algar da Cruz Catarino I a apresentar-se num est\u00e1dio de evolu\u00e7\u00e3o mais avan\u00e7ado que o Algar do Silvino Cego. As grutas de origem fre\u00e1tica apresentam controlo misto por fraturas e atitude das camadas.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">No n\u00edvel de aplana\u00e7\u00e3o Murteira \u2013 Carvalheiro, o n\u00famero de grutas de origem fre\u00e1tica \u00e9 bastante consider\u00e1vel, comparativamente com outras \u00e1reas do Planalto de Sto Ant\u00f3nio, nomeadamente nos sector dos Alecrineiros onde quase s\u00e3o s\u00f3 conhecidos <em>vadose shafts. <\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">A exist\u00eancia deste n\u00famero de grutas de origem fre\u00e1tica testemunha o papel deste corredor em paleocircula\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">A cota das galerias do Algar do Chouso Frade (260-270m), que marcam um antigo n\u00edvel de circula\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 mais elevada do que a da galeria inferior do Algar do Chocalho (245-248m), que marca um outro n\u00edvel de circula\u00e7\u00e3o. Dada a proximidade das grutas n\u00e3o se pode excluir uma liga\u00e7\u00e3o entre estes dois paleon\u00edveis.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0px;\">A cerca de 15km a NW da localiza\u00e7\u00e3o deste dois algares encontra-se o algar do Gralhas VII, que apresenta um paleon\u00edvel de circula\u00e7\u00e3o, a cotas atuais de 270-280m com evid\u00eancias de um rebaixamento do n\u00edvel de \u00e1gua em mais de 50m, para cotas inferiores a 230-240m. Estas cotas s\u00e3o semelhantes \u00e0s dos paleon\u00edveis nos algares do Chocalho e do Chouso Frade. O antigo n\u00edvel de circula\u00e7\u00e3o, reconhecido no algar do Chouso Frade, poder\u00e1 assim representar uma passagem do mesmo paleon\u00edvel, tamb\u00e9m registado no algar do Gralhas VII a cotas 260-270m, para um n\u00edvel mais baixo (pr\u00f3ximo da cota \u00a0245-248m) registado no Chocalho.
